Plug Ins Functions for Free WP Sites

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,
I think it would be great if free WP sites had a plugins function so people can install a few relevant plugins for their site, i.e. All in One SEO and XML Sitemaps – these 2 plugins are virtually essential for any site.

Also if WP have installed plugins – it would be great to know what exactly is installed and how these can be either configured or further configured.

To simply state we do it all for you – is basically nonsense these days – even for free WP sites – we need to know exactly what plugins you’re supposed to be doing all for us?????? What is their purpose and I can inform you – I had a free weebly website ranked on page 1 of Google within 48 hours – and yet the free WP site is not showing anywhere – so much for your SEO plugins – does absolutely nothing from what I can ascertain!!!!

    Many thanks,
    Talk to you soon,
    Desley

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.com sites already have xml sitemaps, you just need to add /sitemap.xml to the end of your blog’s URL. See here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/sitemaps/#xml-sitemaps-for-search-engines

WordPress.com blogs already have pretty good SEO rankings, and there is nothing you can configure or do with what wordpress do already. http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2013/03/22/seo-on-wordpress-com/

Your blog doesn’t show up on google yet because it’s new, it takes a few weeks for Google to start indexing your site and start displaying your blog in searches.

WordPress.COM blogs don’t allow plugins simply because it’s a free service, and wordpress doesn’t want people uploading various things to their servers, since everything is hosted by them. So it’s more about security, and keeping things running, than anything. If you want plugins wordpress.ORG is the only option.

Well your site map is built in – so that Plug-in would be a total waste of time –

Plugins are not allowed here as a security and reliability measure

If you were number 1 on Weebly why are you wasting your time and effort here??

PS – I was able to find your site on Google – page 1 even – maybe you don’t know how to use a search engine

    Hi,
Many thanks for all the responses. The issue is that if free WP had the capacity to install some plugin one could install the very safe All in One SEO plugin. This would allow one to continually update the SEO for relevant keywords.

I’m not saying that WP should give total free reign re plug ins – however it should give users the capacity to install 1 – 3 very safe plugins like All in One SEO or install it themselves and let the user undertake basic SEO tasks for the site and internal pages.

Thanks for the info re the site map.

As it is – yes the site is now showing on page 1 of Google – however only for the main keyword – which is the site’s title – and this is because WP insist on controlling the plugins function instead of allowing users to be able to install 1-3 plugins to assist with SEO overall.

Hence my ??? and comments still stand.

In relation to the member re Weebly – their tools are terrible and one cannot create any type of decent website with this free site builder. I started with Weebly to check it out and was more surprised than you are that the one page site which is an absolute disaster appeared on page 1 of Google.

We don’t need any SEO plugins. We cannot install any SEO plugins and those who think that SEO plugins are required are so far off in the ozones that they appear to be breathing methane.

I do not support this idea. I support the idea of bloggers learning how to blog ie. publish high quality unique content that cannot be found elsewhere on the internet, rather than focusing their time and energy on gaming search engine results.
