Plug-ins menu missing

  I am unable to install a new plug-in, access the menu, update WordPress, see what version of WordPress I’m running. I’ve tried changing my theme, logging out and back in, and that did not change what I see on the Dashboard. I am an Administrator. Our WordPress is free and we do not host it. Please help.

  I can tell your are reading information that applies only to WordPress.ORG software installs and not to your WordPress.COm blog.

  If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.

  There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.com blogs.

  There is no upgrade you can purchase here that provides FTP access and the ability to install plugins and or any third party themes.

  WordPress.COM runs on the latest version and all updates are done by Staff not by us bloggers so the version number is actually irrelevant to WordPress.COM bloggers.

  WordPress.COM works differently than WordPress.ORG. All the issues you listed are related to that difference.

  None of that will chnage the fact that http://alignmentnews2011.wordpress.com/ is a WordPress.com hosted blog and not a WordPress.org install.

  The only relevant support documentation for WordPress.COM bloggers is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also on the bottom of your Admin page.
