Plug Ins with Premium Plan

I am a new WordPress user. I am also new to website design and I am starting a new small business. Lots of new things going on here. :-)

I am paying for the Premium plan. I find a lot of things I love about WordPress. However, I believe those paying something for WordPress hosting should be allowed to upload at least a few free plugins that would help make designing a website be a smoother process, like the Make Builder (free version).

I want to edit the text color of a WordPress theme I am using (Dara) and it does not seem to be supported. The Make Builder plugin would solve this problem for me. I feel a bit frustrated by this limitation pushing me to the Business plan when it’s not something I can afford starting out.

So with the Premium plan I need to find a theme that has text color I like before I start building my website? Are there any other workarounds I am not aware of? I appreciate any feedback.

    Thanks for listening,
    Rachel

  • Hi there,

Your premium plan allows you to change aspects of your theme like the color scheme by adding custom CSS. That type of change does not require any plugins. If you tell me exactly what you’d like to change I’d be happy to help you with the code required for it.

But it is not possible to install plugins on a Premium Plan site – until two years ago using plugins was not possible at all on WordPress.com.

Thanks for the offer to help and for the additional information about the availability of plugins on the Business plan being a recent addition to WordPress.

I decided to take the advice of tutorials and use a theme which needs the fewest tweaks to be what I like. I switched from Dara to Radcliff 2 and am finding it easier to use with better readability. I will definitely reach out if I have more questions and ask about coding on the forum you suggested. Thanks again! :-)

  • Thank you, @upstreamwc. Cheers :)
