'Plugging in' the ecommerce feature

In the ‘how to’ install the ecommerce plug in to my site, the instructions advised to select the ‘plug in’ button/option in the dashboard. My dashboard does not have this ‘plug in’ option.??
The other way to do it was to download the link to my ‘plug ins folder’. Where abouts do I find this folder??Sorry, but I am very new to WordPress and (as you can see) have little techy knowledge.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be great.

Actually just after posting my question I ‘searched’ some more on the WP site and found out about the WP.com and .org usage conditions.
It seems I need to use the WP .org features.
How do I go about changing my web address now over to .org if I have already signed up with the .com site???

You will need to buy a domain name, find a host for your site, and download the (free) .org software.
The site linked to your name is blank, but if you are asking about another site with content, you will have to export the content to your new self-hosted site.
