  Hi, I only have the free site but I’m having a lot of trouble exporting my site to a self-hosted area. Is it possible please to have you install the plugin ‘All-in-one WP Migration’ just to enable to be successful at doing this transfer? Many thanks, John.

  You cannot install plugins on the Free Plan. Instructions regarding moving to a selfhosted wordpress.org can be found at https://move.wordpress.com/

  With the .xml export file you only get your own created content available to transfer into your self-hosted site (and images as long as the .wordpress.com site is still up) not a mirror of the whole site. The twenty seventeen theme needs setting up again at your new domain first. The All in one plugin only works between two self-hosted sites.
