  I understand you are looking to add plugins to your site, and this is not possible on free WordPress.com sites, but you can enable the ability to add plugins by upgrading to our Business or eCommerce plan.

  You do also have the option to “self-host” your WordPress site with another provider. This is not truly a free option since other providers well have hosting costs as well, but it may be a lower priced alternative if cost is an issue. If you are looking for a good web host for your self-hosted site, we recommend the following providers, who all offer easy-to-use wizards to help you get your first WordPress site set up and running

  Out of curiosity what is the plugin(s) you are trying to add? We’re happy to take a closer look and see if we have an alternative you can consider since we pre-install a lot of functionality by default on WordPress.com, and this is often similar to the plugins you would add on a self-hosted WordPress site.
