Plugin add does not work

  • Unknown's avatar

Dear WordPress support. I would like to ask for an information. We have server on cloud which does not have access to the outside world, we whitelisted wordpress.org in order to be able to download plugins. However it is still not possible. It says: ‘Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration.’ Can you please provide an information about which setting on the server needs to be done, in order to make this functional?

    Hello sonavyhnalova,

It is a common mistake, but your post has landed in the wrong support forum. This forum supports WordPress sites hosted on WordPress.com.

The issue might be outside the scope of WordPress (networking or server configuration), but if you also want to seek assistance from a WordPress resource, there are similar volunteer support forums for open source WordPress.org:
    https://wordpress.org/support/

You need a separate login to post in the WordPress.org support forums. Here is a link for registration:

  • Hi there,

What is your site URL? You do not have any connected to the account you are contacting us from.

If it isn’t a site that is hosted with us here on WordPress.com, then @drizzleblocks is correct, the forum you will need to visit is the dotorg forums for plugin support: http://wordpress.org/support/forums
