Are you or are you not going to import this content into a free blog from and being free hosted by WordPress.COM?
Is the content in question in a WordPress.ORG install or not?
If it is from a WordPressORG install then you must upgrade your install first to the latest version of WordPress before you export and import.Read this entry very carefully please so your are crystal clear on the differences: WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org: The Differences
There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we cannot install individual plugins into them. There are no plugin tabs on free hosted WordPress.COM blogs. The plugins found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.

I’m looking to install on a free wordpress.com blog. I’ve nothing in wordpress.org at all.
I looked through the help/support for wordpress.com for help on importing data from a csv file, and it pointed me at the plugins. Hence the question.
What I want to do is import posts from an old blog that are in a csv format, but can’t see how I can do that.
Any ideas?
