Plugin- Automatically select featured image

  Hi,
  I would love to have a plugin where the featured image is automatically selected from media in the post, and where the featured image can be set for posts without media (so that image will be used).
  Another option would be to have the ability to see the media gallery after clicking “set featured image” from the normal posting screen, not from admin posting.

  I’m not clear how that would work as every theme here with featured images is not designed to operate in the same way.

  Sorry but there is non consistency so I’m thinking no plugin could work.
