Plugin feature no longer visible

I’ve been using the plugin feature to upload custom widgets. Suddenly I found my free WP accounts does not have this feature anymore. Why?

The hosted version of WP never has had this option

I have both free and self-hosted WP pages: what happened to it? I had this feature only 2 weeks ago.

WordPress.com blogs (free) have never used plugins:

I am not sure I know what you mean that WP has never had a plugin option in my WP dashboard/menu.
I’ve been using this feature for the past two months which has allowed me to upload and install zipped widget files. I am no longer able to find this feature so I can upload widgets. I’m only able to activate or deactivate the set version of widgets that exist in the Appearance panel. Why would WP offer widget files for download if there is no feature that allows widgets to be uploaded to WP?

My question has been answered. There exist a plugin feature in WP but only in the self hosted version. The question is answered here: http://support.wordpress.com/plugins/

Actually…. the response was “The hosted version of WP never has had this option” and “WordPress.com blogs (free) have never used plugins”.
It would have been easier to understand if someone responded, “only the hosted version has a plugin option”. However, even my self hosted version don’t show the plugin option anymore so I have to find out why this is not showing.
Thanks thou!

Well, if you’d read the sticky threads at the top of the forum before posting you’d have had your answer from the start!
WP.com = free blogs hosted by WP.com.
WP.org = free software, self-hosted. -
In fact, that same sticky thread that both raincoaster and ellaella gave you the link to.
