Plugin Option

  Hello,
  I have a basic free wordpress account. I wanted to add a couple plugins, but, I am unable to find the option or Plugin tab in my dashboard. Can anyone tell me where I can find it, or, what I have to do to get it?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  It doesn’t exist on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.

  If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, conduct ecommerce and edit the database.   Thank you for helping me. Is setting up a wordpress.org instal hard to do? My tech skills are pretty limited.

  Yes it’s definitely challenging and yes it’s costly. Most of all you are responsible if anything goes wrong. There is no Staff to help you. You are on the front line and there are many funky plugins that can muck up your entire site. If you are not proficient at WordPress.com blogging then I don’t recommend proceeding with that.

  Know that bloggers who think they need plugins frequently do not need them at all as many are already built in here. If you are specific about exactlyt which plugins you think you need we may have a widget or a workaround you can use.

  That is very helpful information. There are a couple things I would like to do with my site and I assumed I needed a plugin.
  #1 – I would like to have columns and rows on one of my pages that would create boxes. I want to be able to insert a clickable image that is linked to a different site.
  #2 – I would like to insert a calendar where customers can book appointments with me from my website.
  Is this possible without a plugin?
