Plugin Security
-
Hi, I would like to set up a business WordPress account, but my corporate IT is concerned about the security of plugins. From their point of view, another big issue is the freedom of the account holder to install any plugins from the directory. Is there a way to overcome this concern? Thank you.

Hi there!
Yes, in business plans, you can install third-party plugins but this is only limited to a person who has only admin role access.

Hi there,
So you essentially want only a selection of curated plugins to be available for installation on the site, correct?
That is not something we offer on our Business Plan. Sites on the Business Plan can install any plugin from the WordPress.org plugin directly, and in fact any other plugin found online as well, as long as it’s not on our list of incompatible plugins:

But we do continually and actively scan sites on our Business Plan for vulnerable and malicious plugins to try and catch issues before they start causing serious problems.
That said, depending on the size of your organisation and your budget, you might want to look at our VIP hosting platform instead. There you’d have access to curated plugins, a dedicated account manager, developer help with custom integrations, etc.
