Plug in tab does not appear to show on my dashboard. I am using a free theme d I need to upgrade to premium to view this ?

We cannot install plugins on WordPress.com and there is no upgrade that will give you this ability. http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
To use plugins you’ll need to buy your own domain and hosting and set up your own website from scratch using the WordPress.org software. See here for more information: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hi there,
I have bought a domain through WordPress to which WordPress maps my site, however, the site was built using a free WordPress.com theme, and I have the same problem.
Is the answer the same as for IVbroker?
I would like to be able to protect copyrighted images I am publishing with permission, but do not want users to download.
Is there a way to do this without a plugin?
Thanks in advance for your help!

As I wrote above, the is NO upgrade that gives the ability to install plugins on WordPress.com. The only exception is the Business bundle which allows users to install one of three possible eCommerce plugins, but no others. There is no way to prevent people from downloading images from your site, I’m afraid. Even if you were able to install a plugin that blocks right-clicking an image, they are very easy to get around for someone who knows how (or is able to do a Google search on how to do it). Besides, even if it were impossible to get around those plugins, that still won’t prevent someone from merely taking a screenshot of the image while viewing your blog.
The best you can do is to make sure you clearly attribute the images you use to their sources, and include a statement that you’re using them with permission. Hopefully that will make people wonder if they should also have permission to use the image, but there’s no way of preventing them from downloading the images that I know of.

Thank you, @kokkieh, appreciate it. Google search seems to throw up quite a few of these plugins supposedly to be used with Word Press, hence the question.
Attributing images and contributions is standard practice on brazenglobe, and I hope it will catch on! :-)
Thank you again, appreciate the time you took to reply. :-)

Remember there are two versions of WordPress, .com and .org. The .org users can install all the plugins they want, but on .com we can’t. This is for security reasons as we all use the same software on this platform, and one plugin containing corrupt code can bring down all our blogs.
If you think a specific plugin should be added you can of course suggest it in the ideas forum, but this particular plugin has been suggested numerous times already, and I doubt it would be implemented for, as I pointed out, it is not really that effective.
