Plugins

On my dashboard, I do not see a Plugin section. Is there a way to have access to Plugins on the WordPress Dashboard?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
We don’t allow plugin uploads, since we build a lot of plugins into WordPress.com automatically.
What exactly are you trying to do ultimately? There may be another way :)

I am also having this problem. I want to put a simple button on my page. There are lots of plugins for doing this, but when I try to follow the simple installation instructions, I find no way to install a plugin. What’s going on?

I need to incorporate an IDX real estate search engine into my website. The instructions call for me to click on the “Plugin” icon on the right-side menu; however, I do not have a “Plugin” icon available. I have the API Key, and the links provided by the IDX Broker vendor; however, however, I am failing to figure out how to link my page with the link provided. Please help. Thanks.

As I mention, plugins can’t be installed here at WordPress.com, because we install many for you already. Uploading plugins is a feature of self-hosted WordPress sites.
I recommend that you instead try inserting a link to any landing pages that may be hosted elsewhere for you. You could possibly, for example, just link to the IDX engine instead.

Otherwise, if you must install a plugin, you could look into moving to a self-hosted WordPress, hosted at a place like Pressable or Bluehost, among others.

Well I don’t see one for adding a simple button, which must mean that there’s another way to do it that I’m missing (newbie here). So please tell me what that is. My site is very simple, but this is keeping me from finishing it.

What would you like the button to do? There are lots of different types of buttons. For instance if you want to sell things you can add Paypal buttons:
-
The simplest thing you could imagine – I just want it to load another page. I can do it with a menu, but there would only be one option on it, so it’s more suited to a button.
-
You can create drop-down menus which have several options:
Is that what you mean?
You can also put links on the page that open in a new window/tab. There’s a screenshot of the option you’ll need to select on this page:

You can also upload images to the site and make these clickable. This means you can create your own button as an image, then upload it, and turn it into a link.

I am using a menu now. I don’t want to do that. I want to use a button. Are you saying that’s not possible?

You can add buttons but you’d need to create one yourself and then upload it to your site. You can probably also find a button on the web by searching for “button images”. Once you’ve got a button, upload it to the post or page you want to use it on and then create an image link by following these instructions:
