I downloaded something for my wordpress page, and it told me to Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress, how and where do I find this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

While WordPress.com offers a lot of plugin functionality, you cannot add your own plugins or themes; this is only available on the self-hosted version of WordPress through WordPress.org.
Was there something in particular you were trying to accomplish? WordPress.com may have that feature available.

Here is one idea I found.
A badge or button or icon is simply an image that you link to. You can capture an image and upload it, link to it and display it in a text widget.

You can also upload new files to your Media Library using Media → Add New. http://support.wordpress.com/media/media-add-new
