I just got the free WordPress. Do I need to upgrade to Plugins; in order to get a static header that remains, even when I post a picture above a text in the blog and hit the ‘read more’ button, the header remains static and does not change to the picture above my blog text?
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Hey there,
Many thanks for reaching out – just to check, are you looking to change the header image from page to page, and page to post, or keep the image static when visiting pages that have a featured image attached.
Depending on what’s required, we can guide you on how to do that – and what would be needed.
It may be the case that custom CSS is required in order to achieve that with this particular theme.
Many thanks in advance.

No. I’m not looking to change the header from page to page. I want it to remain the same. I do want a different picture on each new post. But when I’ve tried that it changes the header picture with the new picture. What must I do to avoid this?

You are referring to your Featured Image being used as the header image on posts like this one? https://aaronblackwoodcom.wordpress.com/2023/05/16/autocrit/
That is functionality that is built into your theme but
You can disable it here, under the Content Options tab on the left:
https://wordpress.com/customize/aaronblackwoodcom.wordpress.com
This will allow the standard site-wide header to appear as expected, the Featured Image will not be displayed on the post.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
