PLUGINS absent on Premium Blog

  • Unknown's avatar

I recently upgraded to a WordPress Premium Package. I have not yet decided what I want my domain name to be, so I’m still on a “.wordpress.com” domain.

I want to install a Lightbox plugin as a way to display my image content, but “Plugins” is not an option in my dashboard under “Appearance.”

Is this somehow tied into the fact that I haven’t chosen my custom domain yet? If not, how can I get plugins as an option in my dashboard?

    Thank you,
    Patricia Feysinger

  • While plugins are common on self hosted WordPress sites, due to security concerns, they are not available on WordPress.com. There is more info regarding WordPress.com and plugins here:

Also, for more information on the differences between WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress sites, please see:

If the Lightroom plugin is crucial to your site design/plans, you may want to consider switching to a self hosted WordPress site. If that is the case, I can refund your WordPress.com Premium purchase.

Please let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.
