Plugins and code editing

  Hello, I want to use plugins and be able to edit the code, however I cannot find any plugins in the WordPress online version nor can I find a place where I can edit the code. Why is this? Why can I use plugins in the downloaded wordpress theme, but can’t in the online one?

  NOTE: I have wordpress basic version – free.
  Do I need a premium account to use plugins in the online WP?

  Hi,
  WordPress.com does not allow you to upload plugins or edit the code. If you want to do that, you’ll need to switch to self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org).
