    Hi there,

Do you already have a WordPress site, what site is the freelancer you hired working on?

I’m am asking because if you are only considering the business plan now and yet you already have someone working on your SEO this could mean your site is not hosted on WordPress.com as you would have already paid for the business plan to be able to install a plugin in the first place.

Yes, the Business plan retails at the amount you are seeing on your account and for you to be able to install a plugin on a WordPress.com hosted account you need to upgrade to that plan or the Ecommerce plan.

if you already have a freelancer hired and assisting with the toast plugin and you have not yet paid for the business or e-commerce plan then your site is a self-hosted WordPress installation from WordPress.org. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

I see your thread is marked for staff assistance, I’m sure they will elaborate further if anything is unclear .

Hi there, I’m not Staff, but @therefoiam is correct that in order to install plugins on a WordPress.com website, your site would need to be upgraded to the WordPress.com Business plan or higher. https://wordpress.com/pricing/

Since your question was routed here to our community forums, it’s possible that your website is hosted someplace else and using the WP open source software, or your site on WordPress.com is currently a free website.

If you are not sure where your site is hosted, please do share your site address with us. That way we can make sure you are getting the support you need.

Thank you therefoiam and Justjennifer, I really appreciate your response.

We are migrating a site to wordpress as freelancer has extensive experience in yoast. We purchased the premium yoast but she said most of her clients use free version and also her clients have free wordpress. She didn’t know why the premium business was required, so of course i was confused. The link thereforiam is very useful and may answer the question.

In migrating the site, the developer (different to the freelancer) suggested using inmotion hosting.

Thanks again, you have given me direction to work this out.

    Best

    Rebecca
