plugins & changing from wordpress.com to wordpress.org
-
I know you can’t add plugins to the W.com hosted sites… is it possible to transfer my site across to become a W.org self hosted site and look the same as it does now but then have the ability to ad plugins?
I need to add plugins but don’t want to start from scratch!

Your sites look depends on the theme.
Most of the themes available on WordPress.com are also available for self-hosted sites in the WordPress.org Theme Directory here: https://wordpress.org/themes/
When you self-host, you can add plugins.
You certainly don’t have to start from scratch. Just export your content from WordPress.com, import into your self-hosted blog and pick the theme. You should be all set to go.

Hi there!
What you’re asking is certainly possible. To expand a bit on what Chaitanyamsv said, here’s what you’ll want to do:
Login to your WordPress.com wp-admin
Go to Tools > Export
Select Start Export
Choose All Content
Click Download Export File
This will download a .xml file.
Create your WordPress.ORG website (this can easily be done by using a host like GoDaddy.com or BlueHost or HostGator)
Login to your WordPress.ORG wp-admin
Go to Tools > Import
Select WordPress
Select Choose File
Find the .xml file
Click Upload file and Import
Don’t forget to find your theme. Like chait said, most wp.com themes are also available for wp.org sites.
You may have to do some more customizing to make your new blog look like your old blog. Anything you did in Appearance > Customize you’ll have to do again.
