Plugins for blogg on WordPress

I spendt pretty much hours on hours trying to figure out how to install plugins on my wordpress blogg last nite without any luck. Why isn’t the option of adding plugins on wordpress.com but on wordpress.org ? I don’t get it at all… I guess I’m to much of a noob to do stuff like that cause I downloaded the 2.71 thingie from .org and tried to do the easy installation part but all i get is errors due to the fact i can’t even find out where you make databases on wordpress.com I guess i need even more programs installed to do advanced stuff like that or ?
all i want is the rating of movies plugin that is linked up towards imdb.com but since you haven’t made the option to add plugins so high tech I guess I’ll never get it done… right now this is the only thing stopping me from jumping over and start blogging on this site since the rest of it seems totally awesome.

That is correct; you cannot use plugins on WordPress.com.

If that particular plugin is so important to you that developing a workaround for WP.com isn’t an option, then yes, you’ll have to go self-hosted.
