I am trying to add a plug in to my site, but there isn’t an option in the admin panel. How do I go about doing this?

    Thank you.

    Hi there,

Please note that it is not possible to install plugins on WordPress.com, for security reasons. Plugins can only be installed on self-hosted WordPress blogs. If you are wondering how WordPress.com differs from WordPress.org, this support article explains the distinction:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

WordPress.com has a lot of built-in features that were inspired by popular plugins. Chances are, the feature you are looking for is already there! You can search our support site via this link:

    Home

For any features on WordPress.com, the support page will explain how to set it up.

If you don’t find what you are looking for, just let me know what you’d like to achieve with a plugin, and I’ll try to see if we have something similar!

Take a look at this infographic for more information as well:

    Thanks for the info.

What I am trying to do is allow people to enter their email address in a field so they can be notified of upcoming events, news or receive a newsletter. I’d like it to be seamless with Constant Contact, if at all possible. I feel like there should be a way to accomplish this.

What you can do is add a Follow Blog widget and they will receive email notifications every time you post.

    Cheers!

We don’t have a blog, we have a website, and I want to people to sign up for our newsletter that will be distributed through constant contact to send out emails. How can this be done?

Please note that the words site and blog are used interchangeably here on WordPress.com. There isn’t a separate sign up or theme for a site as opposed to a blog. They’d be exactly the same.

I want to people to sign up for our newsletter that will be distributed through constant contact to send out emails. How can this be done?

This wouldn’t be possible on WordPress.com. If you need to use a plugin, you can move to self-hosted, WordPress.org. This guide will step you through the process of moving your site to a WordPress.org instance:

As we only support sites hosted here at WordPress.com, all issues with the new site – including the importing of the file – must be taken to the WordPress.org support community:

If you’d like assistance moving your WordPress.com site to WordPress.org, we have a service called Guided Transfer that does all the work for you. Check it out to see if it’s right for you:
