Plugins on new WordPress
-
It’s been a while since I have updated my newer WordPress site. Why doesn’t the Plugins option show up on my menu? I also searched it and couldn’t find it.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you want to install plugins of any kind then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install. Apparently you have done that.
There is not now nor has there ever been FTP access and blogger installed plugin capability on free hosted WordPress.com blogs.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/There is no upgrade you can purchase here that provides FTP access and the ability to install plugins and or any third party themes.
See here for a full comparison WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/WordPress.com and WordPress.ORG have different logins. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

Hi, thanks for your response. I could be wrong, but I don’t recall ever using wordpress.org or going for a self-hosted site. I’ve always worked on wordpress.com and just bought my domain name there. I hope that clarifies.

I don’t any clarity as I have been here for over 7 years and can state gain with full confidence that there is not now nor has there ever been FTP access and blogger installed plugin capability on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. If you are suffering under the assumption that purchasing a domain mapping upgrade changes anything with regard to FTP access and the ability to install plugins I’m sorry but it doesn’t. It changes only the URL and nothing more. See here please: Domains – Important Notes Before Upgrading

Okay….I’m going to ask someone who might be able to help me. I don’t know that much about WordPress, and you don’t seem to be helpful for a novice like me.
