Plugins on wordpress.com

I am looking at a wordpress.com plan for a new project. I already haver a number of self-hosted wordpress sites and I have come to rely on certain plugins (like Yoast, for example). It appears that I cannot install plugins to a wordpress.com site unless I go to a Business plan (which is quite expensive). Is that correct, or am I misreading it?

That’s correct. Most WordPress.com sites are on one shared environment and bad code could potentially affect thousands of users. Business plan sites are set up differently so if one went down it wouldn’t affect the others. This is more costly to administrate.
