Plugins won't activate or deactivate!

  My website has been functioning very slowly, seems like mostly JS problems, so I wanted to remedy this with some handy plugins. I realised however that while I can install plugins, nothing will de-activate or activate! What can I do?

  Please provide the link to the side you are talking about. Because the website link you provided with your question(http://onemadmonthinmexico.wordpress.com/) and also the website linked to your profile(http://saferroadsuk.wordpress.com/) – both are WordPress.COM sites and we cannot upload and install custom plugins on any WordPress.COM sites.

  So it seems like that site your are talking about might be using WordPress.ORG and is probably hosted somewhere else and not on WordPress.COM.

  So i am sorry… but you have posted your issue in the wrong forum. This forum only supports the sites hosted on WordPress.COM and not WordPress.ORG.

  And if, you actually need help with this site http://onemadmonthinmexico.wordpress.com/, and want to deactivate a plugin to test if your site performs better – then i am afraid that is not possible either.

  So what you can do is, try optimization strategies like:
  1. Reduce image sizes. Read more about image optimizations here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/media/image-optimization/
  2. Try reducing the amount of post contents that load on the front page by editing the post and adding the more tag. Read about using the more tag here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/
  3. Reduce the number of embeds if you have them on your site.
  4. Read the number of widgets on your sidebar and the footer.
