Podcast Episode Descriptions in iTunes

  Hey there,

  I just started using WordPress to host our podcast. I’ve followed your tutorial and we had no problem getting our podcast on iTunes. However, the episode descriptions are showing the code for the audio file as well as “Filed Under: Episodes.” Obviously we’d like it to look as clean as possible, and only include our written description without the clutter.

  Any idea how we could do that? Thanks.

  Hi Neil,

  Are you using Feedburner? Some users have had luck with editing the description that way.

  It states this:

  In your Feedburner settings, under the Optimize Tab look for the ‘SmartCast’ settings. These are the settings that iTunes pulls in.

  If these settings aren’t set up, then it pulls in the current gibberish from WordPress.

  If not, let me know!

  I’ve used Feedburner in the past for other podcasts, however I’ve migrated to using FeedPress just incase Feedburner hits the dust…

  Hm, gotcha. So what you can try is going to Settings > Reading in your Dashboard and setting this: For each article in a feed, show

  to

  Summary.

  Then, create an Excerpt for your post and see if that changes your description. Take a look at the link for creating an excerpt.

  I managed to get rid of the “Filed Under: Episodes” by unchecking Categories in the Enhanced Feed section in Settings:Reading.

  I also started using the excerpts! I’m still getting what looks to be the code for the audio file, this is what the description looks like in iTunes.

  It looks like your theme is not using excerpts – sorry about that. At this point, would it be possible to try Feedburner to edit the description? I’m having a hard time finding a different option.
