podcast feed not working
-
Good afternoon +
I had been in touch with Rachel about this issue before. Unfortunately, it’s still not resolved. Basically, my podcast feed won’t update in iTunes. Here’s the feed:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/aridanielshapiro
It’s up to date, and it checks out as a valid feed in feedvalidator.
However, I’m not seeing any of the new episodes that I’ve posted in iTunes. The iTunes team wrote to me, saying:
“The source of this issue appears to be the image associated with the podcast. The <channel> level <image> tag is referencing the following image: http://1.gravatar.com/blavatar/7ae1958283c4d3d15188726f8ff8cfa9?s=96&d=http%3A%2F%2Fs2.wp.com%2Fi%2Fbuttonw-com.png
The image uploaded though is actually a .jpeg, not a .png file (as the link above shows). As such, it is breaking the parser. So once the address of the image from the link is changed to .jpeg from png, this issue should be resolved when trying to upload and view your newest episodes of the podcast in the Store.”
But I am not sure how to go about changing this image file. Can you tell me how to do that?
Thank you!

Thank you very much. However, when I visit http://aridanielshapiro.wordpress.com/feed/ in my browser, I still see the following lines:
<image>
<url>

</url>
<title>ari daniel</title>
<link>http://aridanielshapiro.wordpress.com</link>
</image>Is it possible to change that png to the jpg that you uploaded?
Thank you!

Thanks very much. However, when I look here, I don’t see it: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/ari-daniel/id304979474?mt=2
What do you think the difference is?

It is not possible to update a feed retroactively (it is a realtime thing only) so you will not see it in your feed, though someone connecting for the first time will see it correctly.
Essentially there is no way to “pull in” the updated podcast, though you can try unsubscribing and resubscribing in iTunes to see if that will pull it in.
You may want to try republishing the first post now that your Blavatar is a jpg, so that anyone who was subscribed previous to the change will see the latest episode.
Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you very much.
What I need to do to fix this issue is to update the URL in my podcast feed, but I am not able to do so because I’m using wordpress.com. I found this article (https://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#changing), but Apple said they’re unable to do it for me.
Is it possible for you to update it manually from:
http://aridanielshapiro.wordpress.com/feed/
to:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/aridanielshapiro
If you check out this validation link: http://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Ffeeds.feedburner.com%2Faridanielshapiro
You will see that some episodes/posts have the enclosure tag included multiple times while others (the ones that aren’t showing up in iTunes) do not contain it. This seems pretty messy, and I’m wondering if this might also be part of the problem.

HI there,
Unfortunately, that wouldn’t be possible to change your Feed URL on WordPress.com. The link to your feed is:
http://aridanielshapiro.wordpress.com/feed/
If you wish to use an Atom feed the link would be this:
http://en.blog.wordpress.com/feed/atom/
Here’s a support guide about feed here:
I’m sorry we couldn’t be of more help.
