Podcasting using WordPress.com
-
(A quick search didn’t turn up any topics like this. I hope this isn’t a repeat.)
I’d like to podcast, and I see how to add audio storage capacity to a WordPress.com blog. Is that all there is to it? Could I then add all the necessary tags (I hear that iTunes is picky) using WordPress and tell iTunes to pick up each new podcast? If there’s a tutorial, I missed it.
Thanks for any tips. -Bob
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Not really. What I’d really like is a simple, single page that explains how it’s done.
To be clear, I’m using WordPress.com. I see the Space Upgrades to provide space for WordPress holding the audio files. But I don’t see how I add the iTunes tags and how this fits into my blog (or not).
Will all be explained once I upgrade?
I’m thinking that the only way to make this work is to upgrade to WordPress.org and then use PowerPress. Is this right?

Hello there,
I recommend that you contact Staff. Here’s the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form. -
I suggest you contact a couple of podcasters here already. It must be doable, because Canada’s #1 social media podcast is hosted at WordPress.com.

Thanks for the input. I’ve also heard of WordPress podcasters. My question is whether I can do it from WordPress.com. If I have to switch to .org, I can do that, but I’d prefer not to.
I’ll follow up with support, thanks.

Yes you can, but you may have to upload it to iTunes separately and add in all your tags etc.
-
That is helpful, thanks.
(But I’m still mystified that this handful of basic questions and answers aren’t collected into a single page. That’ll save you some time when the next novice comes along…)

I’m glad to hear that information is helpful. I also agree that Staff ought to consider including a support documentation entry for future use so I’ll flag this thread for their attention and make that request.
