Podcasting (why no warning label?)
-
Many of us starting podcasts are noobs. We’re tech savvy enough to know how to do what we want, and to learn along the way to tackle the problems we’ll inevitably face. It would be nice though, if places like WordPress.com would place a warning label on their site for would-be podcasters.
It’s possible to podcast here, but podcasting over at WordPress.org provides tools like PowerPress that enable iTunes to actually recognize your artwork, and more importantly, access your feed to attach tags when necessary.
WordPress.com is a fantastic blogging site, however, I feel they should either provide a warning to noob podcasters that better options are available, or work to bring the necessary podcasting tools to wordpress.com

What I know about podcasting would be lonely on the head of a pin. Have you seen this thread? https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/podcast-support?replies=2

Understood.
However, whomever is in charge here, should be made to understand the disservice they are doing to their customers.
This is a great community, and I’m grateful for the life experience, however I wouldn’t have spent the $100 if I knew .com was the wrong wordpress.
There is a warning label regarding plugins before one signs up, however I think it should be amended to include podcasting.

I understand you’re not arguing. I was simply pontificating.
However the relevant thread seemed to only speak to the same annoyance I previously stated.

These forums are easily searchable, and it’s up to each person to do the research to determine whether or not this platform is suitable for the use to which they intend to put it.

Agreed, and I’m not saying its WordPress.com’s fault. I’m simply stating that if there is a known issue it would be helpful to put it out front. Like they have with the plugins.

@timetheif to be fair. Your link simply pointed me to someone else who was frustrated with RSS feeds and how complicated it can be to make iTunes like them.
What’s great about PowerPress over at the .org site, is that they give you access to your feed, so you can sort it all out. With feed access it becomes amazingly simple.
