Podcasting with WordPress
-
I am using wordpress to podcast and it is displaying a strange code on the rss feed. I host my files on Dropbox, post to a main podcast category in wordpress, and then feed to feedburner.com
There is a weird code showing up in my episode’s description: <img alt=” ” border=”0″ src=”http://…” etc. And I cannot figure out to get rid of this code.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What I know about podcasting would be lonely on the head of a pin. Does this help at all? http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/podcasting/

Thanks timetheif – I used the first link to originally set up the podcast. Not so sure where the erroneous text is coming from though.

Hi @thebarlow,
I am not a staff member but I did want to give you some insight on the what I think the image tag that is showing in the description text is. The HTML img tag appears to be a part of the stats feature of every blog. If this is the case, the image must be used in order for the fine folks at WordPress.com to track and provide us informative, cool data. The image is only 1×1 pixel in size and it typically goes unnoticed. Unless the image is rendered as HTML ( which is what sparked your initial inquiry).
Are you using a program that is showing the description text with the HTML img tag?

You know, I must be missing something, because I don’t actually see a podcast anywhere on the website mentioned above dopesilly.wordpress.com.
@theabarlow – please read the Support doc that timethief linked to above and follow it step by step. You do have to embed the audio file in your site in order for this to work (Create Your Podcast-Step 3).

@justjennifer
Here is a link to the post. I found it by using the feed URL. (http://dopesilly.wordpress.com/feed/) A staff member can verify, but I’m certain there is not a way to remove the image that is being generated. -
@johndcoy Odd. No posts yesterday when I looked. Regardless…
The feed needed for podcasting via feedburner/itunes is http://dopesilly.wordpress.com/category/podcast/feed/ and the img tag does still show up there.
@theabarlow – have you tried using that feed and does it not verify foryou on itunes?
Also, the link you’ve included to itunes on this page http://dopesilly.wordpress.com/podcast/ currently leads to feedburner.

It is on itunes now. “DopeSilly” is one word. For some reason the img link doesnt show in the itunes store, but once the episode is download, it shows up.

Hi Andrew,
I can confirm that the img code in your RSS feed is related to how WordPress.com counts views on your blog, to track your blog’s stats.
I’m glad your podcast is now on iTunes! If you have any additional concerns, please let me know.

Hi Andrew, that code is added automatically to your feed, so there isn’t a way to block it.
