Point a domain registered with WordPress.com to another site

  I’m just wondering what would happen if I point a domain registered with WordPress.com to another site (without transferring it).

  1) If I type the the old abcd.wordpress.com domain in the address bar, it will redirect to the new site or still the old one?
  2) If I renew the domain, how much it will cost, only the domain renewal fee (5$) or both the renewal and mapping fee (18$)?
