Point my domain (purchased from 123-reg) to a new WordPress site

    I’ve just created a website in WordPress and it’s on a temporary web address at the moment. I have a domain from 123-Reg and know how to log into the control panel (that’s the limit of my knowledge so far!). I don’t have a paid plan with WordPress (but happy to purchase one if necessary). I use WordPress online only, and have not installed a local copy. Will I need to purchase a WordPress plan in order to point my domain at the new WordPress site? Will I need to install WordPress? And could someone direct me to the instructions in WordPress re. how to make the transfer? Thanks from a novice!
