Point my domain to my local/public wordpress site
-
I am having issues pointing my domain jackandcarters.com from Bluehost to my public IP.
I had bluehost help me setup the domain to point to my public IP, which is static. I have port forwarding enabled to the public IP of the machine hosting WP through Apache.
I am on macOS, installed apache through brew since apple’s is broken, same for PHP. I am able to use WP as local just fine.
Once I change the httpd.conf for apache, as well as wpconfig php.ini file to point to my public IP, everything breaks.
I have also tried adding a user to MySQL for the wordpress DB, using my public IP as host, the connection is broken and I have to revert to default local settings just to go back into WP.
I feel like I’m missing a step, and the guides I see here include third party apps like mamp, or other proxy apps which I do not use. Could someone help me understand where exactly what files my public IP needs to be changed to?
So far I changed all local host and internal ip in https, wp-config.php to my public IP with ports and nothing works. If I leave everything local and add a new database user say ‘test’ and use local host, then change the wp-config.php to reflect it will break it. even as local host I cannot change database users for wordpress.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

the IP it says I need help with is obviously not correct but the post put it there automatically

Hi there!
Since you’re using WordPress.org on your localhost, you may want to post the question on the WordPress.org support forum.
We are WordPress.com, a managed hosting service provider, and we can only help with WordPress.com sites in this forum.
Thanks!
