  • Hi there,

I have been trying to point my wife’s domain to the website we built on ehost.

What have you tried thus far? I still see that the nameservers of the domain is pointed here at WordPress.com.

Our support doc provides information on moving your domain away from WordPress.com:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/

Here are instructions from ehost on how to point the domain over to them:

    https://support.ehost.com/articles/how-do-i-point-my-existing-domain-to-my-account

Let e know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!

This is the email that I got from ehost to point the wordpress domain to ehost. I have performed these actions and still only works sometimes. One time I will try to go to it and it will pull up my wordpress site and the next time it will pull up my ehost website. We are getting very frustrated with this process and need help in order to successfully launch this site.

  • Hi there,

I took a look at your DNS settings and they looked good. Made sure that the A records were pointing correctly to your ehost site and resaved.

When I initially checked DNS propagation for your domain, it was not fully propagated and I was getting both the WordPress.com and ehost sites intermittently. But since that time, the domain has fully propagated and I am not receiving issues. Every time I visit, it’s going to your ehost hosted site. Check and see if it is the same for you.

Let me know if you have any other issues or questions. Thanks!

  • I also removed an additional record from you DNS settings which could have been the cause of the domain going back and forth to each site. I would give it a few hours to propagate and see if everything works moving forward. Keep me updated.

    Thanks!

  • Ah, I have an update:

After speaking with my team there is indeed a problem on our end handling A records at the moment. We are in the process of fixing the problem, but that is the source of the issue.

I apologize for the inconvenience, but we will try to get the domain pointed to the ehost site as soon as possible. I will keep you updated.

    Thank you.

  • In the link I gave you earlier, ehost allows you to point your nameservers over their host which may be the more reliable way to use your domain anyway:

    https://support.ehost.com/articles/how-do-i-point-my-existing-domain-to-my-account

Is there a particular reason why they are wanting you to use A records? Did you receive their nameserver information in the welcome e-mail they referred to? If so, I’d be happy to add those to your account and you won’t even have to worry about A records.

    Let me know, thanks!

    Is wordpress a cPanel site?

  • Unknown's avatar

Ok. I added an ns1 and ns2 to the nameservers. It is now working on a computer but still not on a mobile device. I just changed the nameservers so, how long before it might update on mobile devices?

  • @aspirecenter2,

It can take up to 72 hours for everything to propagate.

Let me know if you having any success on your mobile device.

    Thanks!

  • @karmicklusters,

What exactly are you trying to do? Point your domain to another host using A records? If so, your new host will provide you with the IP address that you need in order for your domain to work correctly.

Let me know if this is what you are trying to do.

    Thanks!

That is what I tried at first but one time I would log in and it would be the website on ehost and the next time it would be back to the wordpress site. I posted the instructions from ehost with the A record ip address to use. Now the website won’t work with the ns1 and ns2 that I put in a few days ago.

This is the error that I am getting now.

  • Hi there,

When I checked your nameservers a few days ago, they did not seem like the same nameservers that ehost would use based on what I read from their support page here:

    https://support.ehost.com/articles/hosting-guide/lets-get-started/dns-name-servers/what-are-my-name-servers

Did you follow the instructions on that page to find the nameservers you used for ehost?

    Let me know. Thanks!
