point system

Hello everyone,
I created a blog where multiple authors (contributors) will join to post articles on Korean architecture. I wanted to know if there was a way to have a point system for the posts and comments done by the readers? After a certain amount of points, a reader could then become a contributor to the site. It would be a way to increase discussion!
Also, since there are multiple authors, is there a way to create a formatted post type for them to use? That would help having a uniform site design!

You might want to look at “Ratings”
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ratings/These can be enabled on posts, pages and comments.
There is no automatic function to promote someone from being a commenter to a contributor, but based on ratings you could send them an invite.

Do you know of a post or comment “counter”? For example, knowing per contributor, how many posts/comment that person made.

Not per se, but if you look at the ratings reports in your dashboard, you should be able to see which comments received the most ratings.
