Point to wordpress (Domain Transfer)

Hi, I have recently transferred my domain from another hosting site to wordpress.com. I have updated the nameservers on both sites. It says that my domain is active in wordpress.com, but still says ‘Point to wordpress.com’ . What further action should I take?

Hello!
Thank you for reaching out. You can connect a domain without a plan, but in order for your domain to serve as your primary domain, you’ll need to have a paid plan. Otherwise, your domain will redirect to your free *.wordpress.com URL.
I hope this clears up any confusion! Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or need assistance with anything else. We’re here to help!

I made a new website, built using the wpcomstaging.com name. The site is finished and domain transfer is complete.
The problem is I assumed (I’m bad) that the old site would be overwritten by the new one minus the wpcomstaging.com, keeping the original domain name. When typing the domain name the old site comes up.
Anyway to fix this ? Thanks
