Pointing DNS settings elsewhere

I previously hosted a website on WordPress but ceased payments two years ago. The site had its own domain name I own and pay for. I now aim to link this domain to a new host and need to update DNS Records. However, my domain provider is blocking this change because the name servers still point to WordPress, even though I discontinued the hosting service and can’t locate my site on WordPress anymore. I checked on Site Profiler and it states ‘This site is hosted on WordPress.com but the domain is registered elsewhere.’ Can someone help with this?

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

    Hi there!

If your domain is registered elsewhere, the easiest option is to update the nameservers so that they no longer point to WordPress.com. Can you share the domain name so that we can look it up on our end?

    Thanks!

Thanks for answering. The domain name is dibujoalinea.com. I am trying to point at an adobe.portfolio site but the instructions call for DNS records. I can’t find their nameservers address to poit to.

  • I had a look for dibujoalinea.com and as far as I can tell, it’s registered through a company named “Domains Priced Right” who have this company website:
    https://www.secureserver.net/help/edit-my-domain-nameservers-664?pl_id=1592&plid=1592

In general there isn’t much we can do on this end, as you’d want to “un-set” the WordPress.com name servers directly at your domain provider. Are you able to log in to your account with Domains Priced Right in order to manage the domain’s name servers? If so then I suspect their guide regarding name servers might be able to help you get the change done:
    https://www.secureserver.net/help/edit-my-domain-nameservers-664?pl_id=1592&plid=1592

If your Adobe portfolio doesn’t require you to change your domain’s name servers then I would suggest choosing the “Domains Priced Right Nameservers (recommended)” option from the guide above, and after saving that you should be able to add in your Adobe portfolio DNS records.
