Pointing domain towards WordPress site
-
Hello, I have purchased my domain name on GoDaddy. I then went to build my site on WordPress, and paid for the “Mapping” option to link them. That apparently did not work, and I was told at GoDaddy that I need to point my WP site towards my domain. I have no idea how to do that. Please help!

Have you looked at this support article yet on domain mapping? https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
Since you went through the WordPress mapping side of it I am wondering if you have updated the DNS entries on GoDaddy? It sounds like that might be what you need to do if you haven’t already. Good luck and hope this helps!

Thank you for responding. Do you know where I find the information needed to update the DNS entries on GoDaddy? Sorry- this is all so new to me. Thank you again!

This is the instructions GoDaddy gives that I could find but it isn’t the greatest as there aren’t any pictures with it. However, I did look and it is accurate: https://www.godaddy.com/help/set-custom-nameservers-for-domains-registered-with-us-12317
Here is the high level they have written for an account with 6 DOMAINS OR FEWER (which I will guess that is your account):
1. Select the domain name you want to use, click Text Icon (Settings) and select Manage DNS.
2. Click the Settings tab.
3. Under Nameservers, click Manage.
4. Under Setup type, select Custom.
5. Click Enter custom nameservers.
6. Enter the following custom nameservers:- NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
Once they are entered press OK.
Hope that helps.
