Pointing Nameservers

    I am trying to point nameservers to a new hosting account at hostgator. However, the nameservers provided by hostgator are not recognized when adding them via my wordpress.com dashboard. I just need to find out what steps need to be taken in order to point the nameservers to hostgator for now and ultimately transfer the domain to hostgator from wordpress.com.
