Pointing subdomain in route 53 at WP

  • Unknown's avatar

I have an existing A record setup for a subdomain on Route 53. I would like to repoint this at the WP blog I just set up, but not transfer all DNS to WP, as I use other subdomains for other things. I’ve searched around, but all I found so far was a link to a page on the WP docs that no longer exists. I’ve tried the domain wizard, but it doesn’t support what I need. Is there a walkthrough or other supporting documentation on how to map a subdomain managed by an external DNS to a WP blog? I have a paid WP plan.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

You can follow the instructions here to point a subdomain to WordPress.com using a CNAME record:

A subdomain has an extra piece of text before your main domain. For example, if your domain is yourgroovydomain.com, you can create subdomains such as blog.yourgroovydomain.com and shop.yourgroovydomain.com which you can use with a separate website. This guide will show you how to connect a subdomain to your site. Getting Started A few items to point out before you begin: Decide on

As you’ve already added a domain connection, you can start with this step.

Within 72 hours of adding the CNAME record to the DNS, it will start loading your WordPress.com site.

I noticed your site is pretty new, so I’d like to take this opportunity to learn more about the site you’re creating with us. Would you mind telling us more about your new site? What’s the site for, and what features do you need on the site? Based on your site requirements, we’ll be happy to share specific guides and suggestions and help you accordingly.

    Thanks!
