If your WordPress.com site is on a free plan then you need to upgrade it to a paid plan to connect or transfer your domain registered elsewhere.

  • Hi @nomadicpainter82,

With a plan upgrade, you can connect an existing domain to WordPress.com.

It’s worth noting that a new annual plan purchase includes a one-year free domain registration. You can use this to transfer your domain to WordPress.com, extending its expiry by a year.

If you’re interested in that, you can review plan pricing and features here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

I hope that helps and please reach out again if you have any further questions.
