Pointing WordPress hosted domain to squarespace website
-
I have a domain hosted with WordPress (www.maddieandtom.com) but want it to point to a new site built with Squarespace.
Squarespace have instructions for this, but they involve editing the A record and CNAME in the DNS in WordPress. When I followed the instructions I could edit A record just fine, but CNAME appears to be locked to editing.
How do I edit the CNAME please? or is there a better way to do this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you look, you’ll see I created a second CNAME to see if that worked… but so far no luck!

Hiya,
Actually, the CNAME seems to be working great, but the A record needs a bit of work. Do you have the IP address which Squarespace gave to you? If so, I can go in and edit it for you and get you going!

Here’s an excerpt from their instructions about the A record. there seem to be two slightly different IP numbers, hope this makes sense to you.
‘On the next screen, amend the Numeric IP in all active fields. For www, enter 198.185.159.135 . For @ (None) and * (All Others), enter 198.185.159.136’
Thanks for your help :)

Well that is certainly a weird message, but I think we’re good. I just tested it, and I got redirected to the www, which resolved just fine.
So yeah! Should be OK. You may have to clear your cache if you’re pulling up the old site still:
Let me know if it’s still not working for you after an hour or so!
