  Well, I’m sorry, but I just don’t get it. Do I have to make a ‘New post’ first or can I just go to POLL and Ad New (because this just doesn’t work when I copy the html in a ‘Txt button’ under ‘Widgets’.

  No you don’t have to make a new post first. If you create the poll via the tab in the dashboard sidebar, then click “HTML code”, copy shortcode, paste in post, page, or text widget.
