There is no elegant way to embed a poll in a WordPress.com blog. Since there have been many previous requests and questions, there are many previous forum threads. For example, there’s this one:

I tried all of these poll services. When I copy the html to my widget the poll is there but without any radio buttons or checkboxes. Pls help

That’s all you get. You only get the link to the polls. You do not get the cute little widget. You can make an image of the widget and then link that image to the polling site but that’s all.

There is one exception that has an image and is dynamic so it shows the updating on your blog http://services.nexodyne.com/freepolls/ but it will not fit in a sidebar as is.
