Polls, polls, polls

Timethief, you appear to be the resident expert on Polls.
I take it, we CANNOT put a poll on wordpress blog, but we can put a link to a polling service
And I take it that the reason is because to do so would require using javascript which would make the blog vulnerable to hacking?
If this is the case, just in case I forget in a year or two, could you put a plain statement of fact on the FAQ.

That’s right, most of the poll services use Javascript which we can’t use on our blogs for security reasons. The best we can do is to set up a poll on another website and then link to that on our blog; you could take a screenshot and put that in your sidebar, if you wanted. TT has a list of supported polls over at her WordPress tips blog.

http://bloggingtips.tumblr.com/post/23494466As for the FAQ, we’re just volunteers; you’d need to suggest that to staff. You can do that through the support link below. Hope that helps. :)

Thanks it does. Though I wasted at least a day as many others have done. It would be good if wordpress were clear.

I’m glad it helped. Polls are something are lot of people have requested, so who knows, one day there might be an easier way of doing it. An FAQ might be helpful too, but again you’ll need to direct that to staff. Happy blogging.

It’s in the forums. Always do a search if you’re having a technical problem, because the odds are, it’s come up before and solutions have been posted.
FYI: Timethief’s account has been rendered inactive by staff and she is no longer able to volunteer in the forums.

Try using http://sodahead.com/group/412/?link=danf as your poll for your wordpress blog. Its easier and looks better
