Poor credit card management for upgrades
-
There is still no way (that I can find) to manage my credit cards for upgrades. There is an expired card that keeps showing up as a payment option under My Upgrades and no way to delete it!
In addition, there is no way to choose an existing credit card to pay for an upgrade: I have to add the credit card every time, for every single upgrade. This is really clunky and takes too much time for the many sites and upgrades that I manage.
Please implement a sane and workable payment management system.

Hi there!
Thank you for your feedback. We’re actively working on improving My Upgrades and constructive feedback such as this is always super helpful.
There is still no way (that I can find) to manage my credit cards for upgrades.
I agree that being able to review the payment information on file for each upgrade would be convenient, especially when attempting to update the credit card details for multiple upgrades. I’ve reported this back to our developers for them to consider.

Could you let me know which upgrade of yours, and on which site, this is showing up next to? I had a look over your account but was unable to see a message about an expired card. If you can let me know, then I’ll look into getting this removed for you.
In addition, there is no way to choose an existing credit card to pay for an upgrade: I have to add the credit card every time, for every single upgrade.
We’ve recently implemented a Previous Card option in the checkout process. If you head to My Upgrades and choose to Renew Now on one of your upgrades, you’ll see you have the option to choose from cards you’ve previously used through us.
This option isn’t available when choosing to Update Credit Card information but, again, I’ve reported this back to the development team behind this page for you.
Thanks again for your feedback. If you can let me know about the expired card message, or any other questions, then I’ll look into this further for you.

My apologies, the card is not expired but it is invalid—it was recently stolen and the number has been cancelled. I affirm that customers need to be able to simply delete a card that is no longer needed or wanted. Every other website that I use a credit card on allows me to delete a card.

Yes, I see that list. It contains the invalid card, plus multiple listings of the identical card that I have used for other upgrades. Apparently every time I use a card for an upgrade is is added to this list, even though they are identical. Very poor interaction design IMO.
Every upgrade requires a separate Update Credit Card action, so will I continue to endlessly propagate a list of identical cards?
I recently received notice that my bank will be issuing new pin-and-chip cards this year, so I get to repeat this awkward process all over again in a few months. Not looking forward to it.

Hi Adrienne.

I’m sorry to hear about your card, and can definitely request for a developer in our payments teams to remove it from your WordPress.com account. I’ve sent an email to the address we have on file for your account to confirm details behind this. Can you reply from there?

I agree that multiple listings of the same card shouldn’t be displaying there and have reported this back to our development team.

Again, I agree that there’s room for improvement here and have created a report for our team based on your feedback. Although I can’t give a deadline for implementing changes, I do promise that we’re listening and working towards making the WordPress.com experience the best it can be.

Hi siobhyb,
Thanks for passing along my feedback, and for taking care of the invalid credit card. I look forward to improvements in the Upgrades system.
Best,
Adrienne

You’re welcome, Adrienne. I’ll email you with confirmation once our developers have removed details of the invalid card from your account.
Thank you again for all of your feedback, also.
