Poor image / caption alignment Nishita Theme
-
Since the beginning of the year, when I was last creating content, I notice that the editor function has ‘improved’, i.e. lost functionality and become less convenient to use.
I use medium-sized images, set in the text, aligned either to the left or right border. However, the caption has now lost its spacing below the image (it now appears immediately below the image), and the photo is no longer centred in the small border. It would be easier to describe this with pictures, but that doesn’t seem to be possible here.
Please tell me how to rectify this.
Is it possible to return to the better, old-style editor?

Hi EurasiaOverland,
You’re right that images added via the new editor have no alignment set by default, however, you can use the alignment tools to centre images if you wish. I’ve created a screencast of how you would do that here, and also add a caption, here:
We are invested in and actively working on the new WordPress.com, however, we understand that some may still prefer our classic interface. The classic interface will therefore remain accessible by adding /wp-admin to the end of your site’s URL. Like so:
https://eurasiaoverland.wordpress.com/wp-admin
From there, you can navigate to Posts > Add New to create a new post and add your images. You can also add a browser bookmark for that link, for you own convenience.
Hope that information is helpful.

Hi Siobhyb
Thank you very much for your post. I can add the caption and change the picture alignment; however it does not resolve my issue and the display is not correctly aligned or spaced. I also don’t see why the new website layout (seemingly) does away with the option of pre-sizing the images before inserting them, and of permanently attaching a caption.
The old website is very easy to use, I’m afraid I see no advantages whatsoever in the new one, I do hope the tip you have shared to allow access to the legacy website will continue to work for the forseeable future.
Kind regards,
EurasiaOverland

Hi EurasiaOverland,
I haven’t been able to replicate an issue with how images are aligned or spaced after adding them to the new editor. I’d be happy to look further into this, though! If you can upload screenshots to your site’s Media Library, it’ll give me a clearer idea of the issue. We have guidance on how to create a screenshot here:
The option of resizing your images is something that we’re currently working on bringing into the new editor, also.
We don’t have any plans to remove access to WP Admin in the foreseeable future although our development efforts will remain on improving the new WordPress.com.
