There is a pop up add appearing when I click on my admin page. Is this problem coming from my end or a wordpress problem. Thank you for your time. Here is the url http://lps.adwingate.com/lp/?lp=24option-uk-reg-v3&voluumdata=vid..00000001-cf5f-47e1-8000-000000000000__vpid..eb1e7800-f32c-11e3-8cf3-7409421f816a__caid..5873a071-9d16-427e-a123-c56d2262a467__lid..9c709126-0a31-403d-8e9d-9132480ae84a__oid1..7eeaeb1a-831b-4e41-92b9-5b55bb48eb6e__var1..wordpress%5C.%5Ccom__var2..DP2015AAAAAA__var3..CD13__var4..2564&ts=CD13&dom=wordpress.com&subid3=DP2015AAAAAA&aff_id=2564

Hi there Aissa, This is probably not an issue on your WordPress.com-site’s server as we don’t even allow popups on our users’ blogs! Also, I have looked at your site in three different types of browsers and haven’t seen that pop-up.

I think we should start troubleshooting the issue three ways:

Please visit your site admin page in Chrome or Firefox and let me know if you have the same problem. If you do, please get back to me. If you do not, follow the next steps:

Clear Safari’s cookies and cache using these instructions:

    Solve Common Browser Issues

Return to your administrative page. If you still see the pop-up ad, move to the next step:

Block the unnecessary pop-up in SafarI using Apple’s instructions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ph11946
Again, take a look at your Dashboard and see if the ad has disappeared.

Please follow up with me and let me know how all the steps go. I’m happy to help further. Thanks!

Thank you very much for getting back so quickly. After clearing cookies (which didn’t work :-( ) I looked at cookies again and saw the address for the pop up add. Turns out it was adware malware evil stuff! earlier in the day I had downloaded a legitimate looking programme. It had failed to install, I wasn’t bothered as I wasn’t really sure I wanted the app anyway. That was the virus. I have a Mac and was a bit over confidant about my security. The fact you were in touch with me so fast meant I was able to spend the evening (and a bit off the night) fixing the problem. If you had not I would have turned off my computer and on the restart possibly done irreparable damage to it. It replaced my 7 and a half year old laptop and I have it about two months.
So again thank you very much.

Aissa, nicely done! I was worried it could be malware, but was really hoping that wasn’t the case. Sorry you had to deal with that, but really happy that you were able to fix the problem. Congrats on saving your computer’s life! :) Let us know if you need anything else. Thanks so much and best of luck.
