pop up ads/spam on my wordpress site
-
Hi, my friend tried to access my blog today and sent me a screenshot of a pop up ad saying that she’d won a macbook air. I asked two other people to check if they experienced the same thing – one of them (who has an iphone) also saw the pop up and was taken to another website despite the fact that they hadn’t clicked anything, but the other (who doesn’t have an iphone) didn’t get the pop up. Is this a problem with iOS devices? Have I been hacked? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

This exact thing happened to me today and WordPress support was not helpful. Their response was basically along the lines of “of course, it’s supposed to have ads.” This was not a legitimate WordPress ad –it was spam telling visitors they’d won a prize and completely redirected them from my site. Only happening on iOS devices as far as I can tell. Still trying to get support help from WordPress.

Hi everyone,
As @justjennifer mentioned, we will post more information in this thread when we have it: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/virus-pop-up-on-my-website?replies=22#post-3051163
It would be great to know the following information:
- Please make a screenshot of the ad and upload it to your Media Library
- Which IP address you were using when the ad appeared. This information can be found at here and uploaded as a screenshot to your Media Library or pasted in your reply.
It would also be much appreciated if you could drop a note with this information, in the thread above.
Thanks!
