Pop Up Follow Window

Most high-ranking blogs I visit have a sign up for an email that just pops up when you open their blog. I would really love one of these included in the built in plugins since you no longer offer us to download our own.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

While I realize this is in the Ideas forum, the one thing that will make me click away ASAP after landing on a site (other than autoplayed music) is that “subscribe to our newsletter!” pop-up or overlay.
Since the top of your sidebar is a “hot spot” visually, that is the best place to prominently display the “Follow Blog” widget https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/ You can change the text to something other than the standard text that WPcom gives you.
FWIW- WPcom never allowed its users to download and install plugins. The only tiers that have access to additional plugins are Enterprise and VIP.
